These are each chaired by a resident, and report to the Education Committee. At the beginning of each academic year, goals and objectives, along with time lines, are created by the chair and committee members. Virtually all recommendations forwarded to the Education Committee through these resident lead committees have been incorporated into the program.

Curriculum

Examines all off service rotations in terms of feasibility of completing the goals and objectives, identifying optimal preceptors, reading references, etc.

Out-of-Hospital Care:

oversees all interactions between the residency and prehospital care

Informational Services:

manages the residency computers, library and slide file. Makes recommendations for hardware/software and text purchasing.

Orientation/Recruiting:

assists in the development of the orientation process held each July and coordinates resident candidate recruiting efforts.

Social:

goal is to have at least one social event monthly, as well as to promote camaraderie amongst the residents and faculty.

Medical Student/Rotating R1 liaison:

This group serves as the facilitator for our rotating students and residents, and oversees the conference scheduling for them.

Newsletter Editorial Board:

Produces the once a month publication of our newsletter. The editorial board consists of faculty and residents. A resident serves as editor-in-chief.

Patient Safety Committee: 

Oversees implementation of quality improvement and patient safety programs in the IUEM Emergency Departments
